Position Overview:
Stac labs seeks a mission-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the company through its next stage of growth in the progressive and Democratic data ecosystem. The CEO sets the company’s vision, manages the senior leadership team, develops and implements business strategies, and oversees investor relations. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strategic vision and operational expertise, with a proven track record in business development, and leading high-performing teams.
CEO Responsibilities:
- Partners closely with the stac labs Board of Directors to set the company’s overarching vision, meet the company’s mission, and remain financially viable and self-sufficient.
- Develops and implements strategies that advance stac labs' mission, focusing on expanding services and impact for clients.
- Oversees daily operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in delivering data and technology solutions to clients that meet strategic goals and objectives quarter-to-quarter and year-to-year.
- Identifies and develops new revenue streams to ensure the organization's financial sustainability and growth.
- Leads the senior team, which includes Director of Data Services, Product Director, Director of Engineering Product and Security, and the Operations Manager.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with state parties, campaigns, and other key progressive stakeholders to understand and meet their needs.
- Manages the organization's budget, compliance, and accountability.
- Serves as the public face of stac labs, advocating for the organization's mission.
Minimum Qualifications:
Leadership Experience
- Proven Track Record: Minimum of 7-10 years in leadership roles within the nonprofit, political, or technology sectors. The CEO must have a history of managing large teams or entire business units including overseeing multiple departments.
- Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams, and inspire and motivate a diverse set of employees to achieve high performance.
Business Development Expertise
- Revenue Generation: Experience identifying and capitalizing on new revenue streams, sales channels, and business opportunities.
- Strategic and Operational Acumen: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategies that drive organizational success.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Demonstrated ability to make sense of numbers to guide business strategies and improve processes. Familiarity with tools analysis and visualization tools like Excel, Tableau, Looker, or advanced analytics software required. Must be able to measure success and gauge performance with Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Mission Alignment
- Progressive Roots: The CEO should have deep roots in the progressive community, electoral or advocacy campaign experience, and be a leader in the space.
- Commitment to Mission: Deep understanding of and commitment to progressive values and the mission of stac labs.
- Networking and Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to forge and maintain strategic partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders, including state parties, investors, and other progressive leaders.
Nice to Have Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience fundraising and raising investment.
- In-depth experience with political data operations, including familiarity with voter data, voter files, and their application in electoral politics.
- A fundamental understanding of the progressive tech landscape and data infrastructure and an ability to navigate complex relationships with various stakeholders.
Additional Requirement:
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without restriction.
Location:
- This is a remote position; anywhere in the US. Stac is a remote-first organization.
- While this position is remote, this role may require 15% travel. Expected travel may include in-person gatherings a few times per year in one location in the United States (for retreats or in-depth collaborative opportunities). This will require travel and overnight stays in a location outside of one’s home location, though would be scheduled in advance to account for planning.
